UT Trombone Alums Complete Successful Tour

The Minor 4th Trombone QuartetThe Minor 4th Trombone Quartet recently completed a busy 2013 performance season. The ensemble is comprised of UT Butler School of Music alumni who hold university positions in the state of Texas. Oscar Diaz (DMA 2008) is the Associate Professor of Trombone at Texas A & M University – Kingsville, Martin McCain (MM 2006, DMA 2008) is Assistant Professor of Trombone at Texas State University, Rai Morales (MM 2005, DMA 2008) is the Assistant Professor of Trombone at West Texas A & M University and Javier Stuppard (MM 2007, DMA 2012) is Assistant Professor of Music at Huston-Tillotson University.

In March, the quartet toured universities in Virginia including Virginia Tech University (Blacksburg) and Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond) and were also guest artists at the Eastern Trombone Workshop (Arlington). In June, the ensemble performed at the International Trombone Festival (Columbus, GA) where they received two standing ovations! The quartet recently gave a clinic titled “Teaching Small Ensemble Concepts Through the Prescribed Music List” at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention, held in San Antonio, in July.

The Minor 4th Trombone Quartet performs on Michael Rath Trombones and are affiliates of GigEasy and AirTurn, Inc.
